My Vacation of a Lifetime

Being that I come from a big Italian family, it’s no question that my favorite vacation was traveling to Italy! To make things even better, it was an all girls trip and I went with my mother and sister, which I absolutely loved. Throughout the 1 week trip, we went to 3 different spots, Florence, Rome, and Venice, which are the 3 spots that anyone traveling to Italy must go to first. Although this trip was about 5 years ago, I remember all of the details vividly. My absolute favorite place was Florence and I dream of living there one day and possibly studying abroad there. At the time we went, my older sister was studying abroad there so we met her there. We stayed at amazing hotels, filled with rich and beautiful Italian architectural details that were amazing. I was privileged to visit The Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Galleria, Piazzale Michelangelo, attend a cooking class, and eat the most delicious food I’ve ever had. One of my favorite restaurants that stood out to me was Santo Spirito with a delicious soup- Pappa al Pomodoro. Besides this place, another favorite was Il Antico Vinaio, where I had the best sandwich of my life with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, pesto, sun-dried tomatoes on perfectly baked ciabatta. I was also happy that I was able to communicate with the locals, since I speak Italian, which made it much easier to find the best spots and hidden gems. After Florence, we took the train to Rome and a ferry to Venice, and those cities were absolutely fantastic as well, but Florence will always stick out to me. This trip is one I will remember forever and I can’t wait to go back one day!
