Summer of 2021
This summer is definitely a different one, compared to last year! My summer last year was pretty boring, as I was basically home and felt isolated from my friends. However, I was fortunate to score 2 internships that I cannot be more happy about! I am currently the Restaurant Operations Intern for Chef Daniel Boloud’s restaurant group, called The Dinex Group. My work location is in an amazing spot near Grand Central at a brand new building, One Vanderbilt. The building is absolutely huge and immaculate and is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. The modern architectural features, furniture, meeting rooms, kitchens, outdoor terrace, and event spaces continue to amaze me. I assist in catering orders and events, since many real estate, health, and banking companies have meetings and luncheons on a daily basis. I have learned so much while I’ve been there and I was starstruck last week when I met Chef Daniel at a massive event! My days are super long and the commute is awful, but I’m happy to keep learning about the process of catering and event planning for a Michelin star restaurant group. Besides this, I’m doing virtual social media marketing for a travel/hospitality firm called Habitats By Kat. The company founders, who are twin sisters, are the most hardworking people I know and are the best mentors. I have utilized platforms like Canva, Clubhouse, Eventbrite, DollarEighty, ClientEase and Travel Agency Software. These jobs have already expanded my knowledge tremendously and I feel so productive, prepared, and confident for my future in hospitality!
